A Master of Colour Takes Paris: David Hockney at the Fondation Louis Vuitton
In Paris, art isn’t just admired—it’s a way of life. A hot Fluxx editors pick, from 9 April to 31 August 2025, the Fondation Louis Vuitton is dedicating its entire Frank Gehry-designed space to one man: David Hockney.

The Fondation Louis Vuitton
The Fondation Louis Vuitton is a modern marvel designed by Frank Gehry. Opened in 2014, the Fondation is more than an architectural icon—it’s a cultural powerhouse dedicated to contemporary art, staging ambitious exhibitions that pair global vision with exceptional curation. With its sweeping views, sculptural spaces and deep ties to luxury and innovation, it’s become a must-visit for art lovers, aesthetes and the style-conscious alike.
David’s Personal Curation
But this isn’t just another retrospective. It’s Hockney unfiltered. In collaboration with his longtime partner and studio manager Jean-Pierre Gonçalves de Lima, and assistant Jonathan Wilkinson, the artist has personally orchestrated the layout of each room. The result? A vibrant, luxurious playground of painting, drawing, digital art, and immersive video—offering an experience that feels as intimate as it is epic.
“This exhibition means an enormous amount because it is the largest exhibition I’ve ever had,” Hockney says. “Some of the most recent paintings I’m working on now will be included in it.”
Expect classics—like A Bigger Splash and Mr. and Mrs. Clark and Percy—alongside extraordinary explorations of iPad portraits, Yorkshire hedgerows, and Norman skies that shimmer with echoes of Van Gogh. From Californian cool to Normandy stillness, from 1955 to 2025, the show is a kaleidoscopic portrait of an artist who has never stopped evolving.
