introduces the Listening Chair (CH05), a design object created for immersive vinyl listening where furniture, craftsmanship and analogue audio come together in a single sculptural piece.

In a world dominated by streaming and constant digital noise, the Listening Chair (CH05) proposes something slower and far more intentional: a place designed specifically for the act of listening.

Created as part of the Pirajean Lees Editions collection, the chair reimagines the traditional armchair as a dedicated listening station, integrating a vinyl turntable and discreet record storage within its sculptural form. The result is a piece that sits somewhere between furniture, sound system and collectible design object.

More than a functional seat, the Listening Chair is conceived as a ritual space for music, encouraging its owner to step away from screens and reconnect with the tactile pleasure of vinyl.

A Chair Designed for Sound

Every element of the Listening Chair has been carefully considered to balance ergonomics, technology and aesthetic clarity. The integrated system houses a turntable, speaker and storage for a curated selection of records, all seamlessly incorporated into the design without interrupting the chair’s visual harmony or comfort.

Its proportions are deliberately generous, allowing the user to sink into the seat while surrounded by the warmth and depth of analogue sound. The effect is immersive yet intimate, transforming the simple act of playing a record into a fully considered sensory experience.

Furniture as an Art Object

Part of Pirajean Lees’ Editions series, the Listening Chair is conceived not only as furniture but also as a collectible design piece.

Placed within a living room, study or music space, it acts as both functional seating and sculptural centrepiece. The technical components are elegantly integrated, allowing the chair to retain the visual purity of a contemporary design object while quietly housing the tools for an analogue listening ritual. It is as much about presence as performance.

The chair is upholstered in Dedar’s woven Kotakot textile, selected for its tactile richness and subtle visual depth. Moiré detailing on the turntable tray and piping introduces an additional layer of texture, reflecting the project’s careful attention to materiality.

Each piece is designed and handcrafted in the UK using traditional upholstery techniques, ensuring the chair’s sculptural form remains both comfortable and durable. For collectors and interior designers, the Listening Chair can also be customised in COM fabrics, allowing the piece to integrate seamlessly into a wide range of interiors.

Vinyl records have long been associated with a slower, more deliberate way of experiencing music. Each record carries its own story, whether discovered in a record store, inherited from family or collected over years.

The Listening Chair honours that emotional connection. Rather than treating music as background noise, it invites the listener to pause, sit and experience sound as something tactile and meaningful.

In doing so, Pirajean Lees transforms the everyday armchair into a quiet monument to analogue culture.
