Six Senses London opens at The Whiteley in Bayswater, bringing design-led wellness, sustainable luxury and contemporary interiors to the UK. Discover the brand’s first London hotel, moments from Hyde Park and Notting Hill.
A Landmark Opening in Contemporary Luxury, Wellness and Urban Living
London has long been defined by its grand hotels and storied addresses, yet few openings in recent years have felt as culturally significant as Six Senses London. Set within the reimagined The Whiteley in Bayswater, this is not simply a hotel launch, but the arrival of a new rhythm for the city, one that places wellbeing, design and emotional connection at its core.
For a brand that has built its global reputation on remote island sanctuaries and nature-led escapes, from the crystalline waters of Six Senses Zighy Bay to the terraced vineyards of Six Senses Douro Valley and the barefoot luxury of Six Senses Laamu, its London debut signals something far more ambitious. An urban sanctuary, redefined.A New Language of Contemporary Luxury
Positioned moments from Hyde Park and the ever-evolving energy of Notting Hill, Six Senses London introduces 109 rooms and suites alongside a collection of branded residences. Yet it is the feeling of the space, rather than its scale, that leaves the strongest impression.
Interiors, conceived by AvroKO in collaboration with EPR Architects, move beyond traditional notions of luxury. Deep, inky blues meet warm timber tones, while Art Deco references are reinterpreted through a contemporary, almost cinematic lens. Towering windows and glass-framed bathrooms allow light to move fluidly throughout, softening the boundaries between structure and atmosphere.
At its centre, a restored grand staircase rises beneath a glass-domed ceiling, a striking architectural gesture that anchors the hotel in its historic past while guiding guests through a carefully choreographed spatial journey. This is design not as decoration, but as experience.
Wellness, Reimagined for the City
If Six Senses has always been synonymous with wellness, its London iteration expands the concept into something more immersive, intelligent and deeply integrated into daily life.
Spanning over 2,300 square metres, Six Senses Spa London offers one of the most advanced wellness environments in the capital. From London’s first hotel magnesium pool to a 20-metre swimming pool, cryotherapy, red-light therapies and a sensory suite, the space is designed to support both restoration and performance.
The inclusion of the Biohack Recovery Lounge introduces a more progressive layer, where technologies such as PEMF therapy, compression systems and sound-based treatments allow for tailored recovery and optimisation. Alongside this, the partnership with HUM2N brings clinical expertise into the hotel environment, bridging the gap between hospitality and long-term health.
This is not wellness as an indulgence, but as a considered, evolving practice.
The World’s First Six Senses Place
Perhaps most intriguing is the introduction of Six Senses Place, the brand’s first social wellness members’ club. Positioned above the lobby, it extends the hotel’s philosophy into a space designed for connection, reflection and cultural exchange.
Programming follows seasonal rhythms, blending talks, shared meals and experiences that feel intentional rather than performative. In a city defined by pace, it offers something increasingly rare, a place to pause.
A Contemporary Approach to Dining
At Whiteley’s Kitchen, Bar and Café, the brand’s “Eat With Six Senses” philosophy takes shape through a distinctly British lens. Led by Executive Chef Eliano Crespi, the menu focuses on vegetable-forward dishes, fermentation and fire-led cooking, drawing on both ancestral techniques and modern sustainability.
The result is a dining experience that feels both grounded and inventive, supported by a carefully curated wine programme and a cocktail list that prioritises balance, clarity and ingredient integrity. The Alchemy Bar, meanwhile, introduces a more experiential element, inviting guests to engage directly with botanicals and create personalised blends rooted in seasonal cycles.
Sustainability as Standard
As with all Six Senses properties, sustainability is not an afterthought, but a foundational principle. The hotel operates without single-use plastics and incorporates rainwater harvesting, energy-efficient systems and extensive green roofing to support biodiversity within the urban environment.
The Earth Lab, a signature feature across the brand, offers hands-on workshops focused on repurposing and conservation, reinforcing the hotel’s commitment to meaningful, long-term impact.

A Global Brand, A London Moment
Since its acquisition by IHG Hotels & Resorts, Six Senses has continued to expand its presence into culturally significant cities, with recent openings in Six Senses Rome and Six Senses Kyoto. London, however, feels like a defining moment.
Here, the brand’s philosophy is tested against one of the world’s most dynamic and demanding urban landscapes, and it succeeds not by replicating its resort model, but by reinterpreting it entirely.
A Different Rhythm for London
Six Senses London is, ultimately, about recalibration. It offers a new way to experience the city, one that values stillness as much as movement, and connection as much as design.
In doing so, it quietly redefines what contemporary luxury can look like in London today. And perhaps more importantly, what it should feel like.
